RIP YOU TO THREADS

Photographed by Horace Mann student Daphne Taranto ’11 in the Horace Mann gallery

Using an art exhibit created by f.a.d.’s own Daphne Taranto ’11 that consisted of string pulled tensely across a room we photographed our Beauty Shoot with florescent make-up that glowed in the dark room.

 HOT vs. COLD SHOOT

f.a.d. photo shoot done at Junior editor Baci Weiler’s house,  photographed by Horace Mann students Rachel Scheinfeld ’12,  Daphne Taranto ’11, Alice Taranto ’11 and Zoe Kestan ’11

Styled in mostly hand made clothing, faddies worked hard to style opposite looks together in one image to draw out tensions for this “Contradictions Issue.”

 FAD ROARS!

We decked out these younger students in their favorite Horace Mann apparel and walked all around campus taking snap shots of them showing their school pride. Hope to see you wearing Horace Mann clothes too!

NEW YORK MINUTE

f.a.d. photo shoot around NYC, photographed by Horace Mann students Rachel Scheinfeld ’12, Alice Taranto ’11, Zoe Kestan ’11, Daphne Taranto ’11

One sunny Sunday morning, F.A.D. staff members met up in Washington Square Park, the heart of NYC, to begin a day of fashion, fun, and public transportation. The group split up into 3 several-person teams and did photo shoots in what we consider the quintessential spots of the Big Apple. The entire production of this shoot was student-produced, from the styling to the photography to much of the apparel design. We hope you enjoy the adventure!

ALL HALLOW’S EVE

f.a.d. photo shoot inspired by the creepy-glamour style of Halloween. Photographed by Daphne Taranto ’11, photography assistance by Zoe Kestan ’11.

FAD co-editors in chief, Alice Taranto ’11 and Zoe Kestan ’11, styled a romp through the local Larchmont, NY graveyard in the spirit (pun intended) of Halloween. They always say models look dead. Well…

ARTIST’S SPOTLIGHT: BACI WEILER (’12)

Baci Weiler ’12, co-junior editor of FAD, has a knack for doodling, and we love it!

THE PHYSICS OF FASHION

f.a.d. photo shoot of the physics behind mirrors and one cool optical trick, photographed by Rachel Scheinfeld ’12

f.a.d. is not only an arts publication – we are inspired and thrive in the academic community from which we come! Here, we combine one of Horace Mann’s most popular courses, Physics, with our own staple, fashion photography. Towards the end of HM’s Physics course, a lesson in mirrors and lenses is taught. See how f.a.d., with a little help from Physics teacher Dr. Jeff Weitz, brings these concepts  together in this spread!

Inspired by the energetic paintings of four famous 20th-century artists, Nicole Dalessandro ’11, f.a.d.’s Senior Beauty Editor, envisions a new painted canvas — the face.
